A Silver Sun Sets - A Product of Time: 25 Years of TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art culminates the Dallas Museum of Art’s quarter-century acquisition journey through the exalted fundraiser.

A 25th anniversary is typically celebrated with silver. It’s fitting then that The Warehouse’s latest exhibition, A Product of Time: 25 Years of TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art, opens with an explosion of silver in the form of David Altmejd’s large-scale sculpture, The Eye. Capturing the force of an atomic blast, the structure appears to simultaneously collapse inward and expand outward, cracking and shattering under the pressure. INTERVIEW: Consciousness & Experimentation: Talking with Jackie Tileston

July 16, 2024 - Colette Copeland for Glasstire.com

I’ve followed Jackie Tileston’s work since the early 2000s when we co-taught in the newly developed interdisciplinary Visual Studies program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Her abstract paintings have a distinctive style — one that I would recognize anywhere. Her career trajectory reflects her global upbringing. She received the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006, a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in 2011, and has been awarded the prestigious residencies of the Dora Maar House in France, the Rockefeller Foundation in Bellagio, Italy, and Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, New York, among many others. She has exhibited with Holly Johnson Gallery in Dallas since 2005; I wrote about her 2012 exhibition there, Free Fall. We had the opportunity to catch up recently on the occasion of her current show in Dallas. We spent the day looking and talking about art, yoga, mindfulness, psychedelics, and expanding consciousness....

ARTICLE: Jackie Tileston in Parallax Collaboration

January 19, 2017 - ParallaxCollab.com

Painter Jackie Tileston explores both the self and creativity as never-ending processes of transformation. Her abstract work portrays the malleable nature of identity, illustrating how human perception is constantly twisted and redefined with each new idea, interaction, and experience that it encounters. Every element upon the canvas is in motion. Things come into being, they declare themselves, deceive, seduce, enlighten, and then dissolve. Atmospheric and figural worlds collide as soft, nebulae of color drift, fall, and collapse into phantom geometries, before disappearing into luminous, iridescent dusts...
